Tis' the Season... to Be Kind to All Beings
Share
The holiday season is a time for reflection, connection, and generosity. It's when people choose to come together with family and friends to celebrate peace, love, and joy. But is it though..? For everyone..? What if the peace and joy we’re wishing for this season extended not just to loved ones, but to all living beings? What if everyone practiced what they preach and made this holiday season one where kindness and compassion aren’t just for humans, but for every sentient being?
As we indulge in the traditions of the season—decorating the tree, exchanging gifts, and sharing meals—let’s take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of peace and joy. Can someone truly have peace while consuming the body of an animal who did not choose to die? Can someone feel joy while eating the flesh of a creature that once had a face, a heart, a brain, and a personality—someone who experienced fear and pain before their life was taken for that meal?
The holiday season is about embracing love and kindness. It’s about nurturing relationships and creating an atmosphere of warmth and goodwill. But if you want to embody that spirit fully, please ask yourself: Can I really have a peaceful and joyous holiday while perpetuating harm and suffering?
This year, I challenge you and your tired traditions. I challenge you to create new ones—ones that align with your values of compassion and respect for life. By choosing vegan meals, we can all celebrate the season without contributing to the suffering of others. There are countless delicious and satisfying vegan dishes that not only nourish our bodies but also nourish our souls, knowing we’ve made a choice that reflects our values.
A vegan holiday doesn’t mean giving up the magic of the season—it means expanding that magic to include every living being. It’s about choosing peace, joy, and kindness for all, and making sure our actions reflect those ideals.
So this year, I ask you to please give the gift of compassion. I ask you to please create a holiday season where your meals and choices reflect the love and kindness we alll wish for the world. It’s time to change traditions. It’s time for a vegan holiday season.
